1. On-Device Camera Processing (Zero Video/Image Upload)
When you use the Barcode Camera Scanner on NotTheK.com, all camera video frames are processed 100% locally inside your web browser using WebAssembly/JavaScript. We never record, transmit, or store your camera images or video stream on our servers.
2. Anonymized Anti-Abuse Rate Limiting & Aggregate Telemetry
When you query live South Korean government registries (Not The K-Company, Not The K-Clinic, Not The K-Stay), our server enforces a 1-request-per-minute anti-abuse cooldown and records non-identifiable search queries along with a one-way cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of the client IP address. We do not store raw IP addresses in our database tables.
3. Local Storage, IndexedDB & PWA Cache
To enable instant offline barcode prefix checks, NotTheK.com stores an encrypted GS1 signature bundle in your browser's local IndexedDB and caches static assets via a Progressive Web App (PWA) Service Worker. You may clear this local data at any time through your browser settings.
4. Google Analytics & Advertising Cookies (AdSense / Third-Party Vendors)
We use Google Analytics 4 (G-4BNQW9VNHV) to understand aggregate traffic patterns. In addition, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies (such as the Google DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
